Due to the comprehensiveness of China’s “reform and open” policies， economics plays an increasingly important role in the development of its global position. Though more and more companies built， management of companies cannot catch up with the development of the companies. Management is a burgeoning field in China， so I hope I can acquire more modern knowledge on management in England.
The roots of my strong interest in business can be traced back to my childhood. My father was among the first of China’s new breed of modern entrepreneurs. As a young girl， it was inspirational hearing about his business ventures， and meeting the varied and interesting circle of entrepreneurs. My mother was also involved in business as an accountant， helping him with simple calculations. And so it was early in my life that I hoped I， also， would someday be able to enter the realm of business.
With the time of growing up， I preferred reading books to satisfy my curiosity. I never ceased to contemplate over the questions I encountered. Subjects on business and management became a special fascination to me and my knowledge of psychology as well as interest in this field was increasing rapidly.
As a high school student in China， I had to concentrate on the College Entrance Examination （CEE）， even so， books not related to the exams were never excluded from my life. Unfortunately when sitting in the exam in June， 2001， I was so nervous that I didn’t score well in the CEE exam. I enrolled in the department of Computer Science in Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Any attempt to persuade myself to focus on my major turned out to be a failure at the beginning of my college life. After several terms， I realized that I would never be interested in being a programmer or an engineer. At that moment， I lost my direction and objectives.
My persistence in reading saved me from the dark situation. As a matter of fact， I enjoyed reading the books included Encyclopedia American， and some books about management by Peter ker. I began to notice something interesting： Why some companies can produce more than others？ Why some company can sell more than others？ Why some companies can build up but others cannot when facing the same difficulties？
With the questions in my mind， I started to read many relevant books. I was lucky to read the book “Jack： Straight from the Gut”by Jack Welch， in Which John A. Byrne makes a clear illustration that the management is important for a company. When I was a junior， I ran a bookshop by myself near my school. I should manage not only the finance in the shop but also the employees in my shop even made some strategies to enlarge the business in my shop to hold on the run the shop. From this， my interpersonal skills and the capacity in business has been greatly developed， definitely I was increasingly interested in what I was doing. By December， 2003， I had finally determined to take business management as my career instead of IT. To accumulate more relevant knowledge， I strived to gain more practical work experience in some big companies.
Fortunately， as a senior， I began by conducting an internship in the Architecture Company in Zhejiang Province. Over six months， I worked as an assistant of the manager to harmonize the relationship between the different departments in this company and to draft some management system， which broadened my perspective of management conditions and business performance in different industries. The experience showed me that management is much more important than that of I thought in big companies. After graduation， I continued my work in this company. In May， 2005， the company offered me an opportunity to participate in an training program held by a famous management school. Through in-depth discussions with teachers and students in the classes， they all encouraged me to pursue my future career in management field because of my intellectual ability and the brand new ideas I mentioned.
During the short period of training， I realized that pursuing a higher degree in management is a wise choice for me now. Student council was a big part of my life in high school. I have participated in it since my frst year of high school. When I frst joined， I was quiet， na?ve， and unwilling to participate in many activities. I was scared to meet new people and afraid to apply myself. This all began to change. Half way through my frst year in student council， one of the advisors can up to me and asked why I did not participate that much. I did not have an answer for her and did not know how to respond. After this， I began to think of an answer. I became frustrated and decided to change. I started to show up at events and had a great time. I realized I loved this and wanted to start leading these activities. In my sophomore， junior， and now my senior year of high school， I asserted myself and took on a strong leadership role in student council. I did not fgure out the answer to why I was so reserved until this year with the help of this question.
When I looked up leadership in the dictionary， it said that it was the capacity to lead and the act or instance of leading. These are two very broad defnitions of leadership. Many people have different notions of what this word actually means. When I was challenged to use different items to describe what leadership actually is， I thought this was going to be a hard and obnoxious task. What could I learn from comparing leadership to a stuffed animal or a rubber chicken? But when I sat down to come up with a couple of answers， I realized that leadership could be compared to almost anything a person wants.
All I know about leadership I learned from a calculator. A calculator can add everything together to come up with the best answer. It can delet e what is unnecessary and only include what is important. It can solve any type of problem. These are all important equalities a leader has to have. A leader has to be able to add all of the ideas together to make the best possible plan. Leaders have to know how to decipher the good and the bad out of an idea. They have to be versatile and know how to deal with different types of issues.
All I know about leadership I learned from a ball. A ball is able to bounce back up after it is dropped. It is round and has no creases. A ball can be thrown back and forth to different people. All of these qualities are also leadership qualities. A leader has to be ready for every situation that is thrown at him or her. He or she has to be able to bounce back from any setbacks and never dwell on the past. Leaders have to exhibit many qualities and never be closed-minded about a situation. A leader must be able to delegate when he or she cannot get the work done. They have to trust everyone they lead to be able to "catch the ball" and keep a project rolling.
This activity made me realize that being a leader is so much more than just having authority and having the ability to take control of a situation. A leader has to be trusting of all the people he or she leads and， leaders must be able to combine ideas into one encompassing idea. They cannot sit in the background and watch events happen; they have to jump in and be involved. They should not delegate all their responsibilities away.
Leadership is more than what the dictionary says it is.
I learned through all of this that I have many of these qualities.
I have the ability to solve problems， lead through adversity， and be versatile. From answering this question， I realized that I could lead effectively， even if my leadership style is different from other individuals. When I joined student council in my frst year of high school， I did not have these qualities because I was never put into a situation where I had to lead. I was too reserved to try. When I tried， I learned that I could succeed in this. I did not realize until I answered this question about leadership. My work experience is very broad due to a variety of positions I have held in differentiating working environments. My experience working for Royal Worchester & Spode in the Debenhams' department store has been the most influential. The up-market company requires a confidant disposition from a Sales Advisor such as myself and a proficient memory in order to ensure product knowledge is to an optimum standard. I was also given the responsibility to train a new employee which displays the high degree of trust my employers have for me.
My educational experiences have been of great use to me from a position of form captain in Secondary School to aiding the organisation of mass celebrations in College. Responsibilities such as these have helped me to mature and take my positions seriously so that I am respected by staff. My position of English Prefect in Year 11 required a large portion of my time as I was in charge of aiding the entire English department. During Secondary School I also attended evening Italian classes where I was presented with 'The Student of the Year Award' due to my excellent standard of work. Sport and leisure also interests me and during college I decided to use this interest to do charity work for RNIB where I raised GBP250 and abseiled 120ft down Westminster University. I played Netball for the Harrow Netball Team and competed in the OGI UK Games for the Harrow and Wembley team where I was awarded several trophies and a gold and bronze medal for long jump and javelin.

一、美国大学留学住宿申请
确认就读院校并缴纳定金2-3个工作日之后，同学们会收到学校发来的邮件。该邮件将明确指导学生如何开展下一步工作，其中便包括学校宿舍的申请。请大家注意，即便美国大学宿舍没有明确的的截止日期，大家还是要尽早申请。绝大多数学校采取firstcome,firstserve的制度，即早到早得。
美国大学宿舍的申请一般在查录取状态的系统或另外一个新系统里操作。宿舍申请要填以下几部分的内容：
(1)个人信息(Personal Information)
学生信息，紧急联系人信息，美国联系人信息等
(2)住宿合同/协议(Housing Contract)
长篇大论，主要是针对校内住宿的要求、规定、条件等等
(3)宿舍信息(Housing)
对校内的所有宿舍楼信息的介绍和限定，划分依据：年级、性别等。由此再进一步细分：房型(公寓或宿舍，几人间)、楼层、设施、学习区域等。同学们可参考以上选择自己意向的宿舍，并根据喜好程度进行排列。
(4)饮食计划(Meal Plan)
在校内住宿，一般都要求学生选择配餐。一般分为：固定餐和不固定餐。固定餐的价格偏低，一般是自助餐的形式;不固定餐可选性强，但价格较高。申请者也可以选择中间的部分固定+部分不固定餐。
(5)个人调查(Profile)
主要目的是根据申请者的类型，匹配合适的室友。调查内容：围绕申请者的兴趣爱好、生活习惯、学习习惯等，呈现相应的问题。
(6)选择室友(Roommate)
分为两种：已知和未知。如果是已知室友，可以在选择室友部分，填写对方的个人信息，并通过验证、如果是未知室友，那么室友就会根据以上第5点(Profile)进行系统匹配。契合度越高，越有可能成为未来的室友。系统自动呈现出来的室友，也包括其个人信息。因此申请者可通过查看对方信息，请求对方添加自己成为彼此的室友。
(7)住宿定金(Housing Deposit)
如果要求提前缴纳住宿定金，那么这笔费用只是预交的定金而非全额的住宿费，通常费用在$300-$500不等。全额的住宿费有的大学会要求赴美前交清，而有的大学则要求入学后再交。

三、美国大学住宿须知
(1)申请截止日期
一些学校住宿名额有限，并不能保证所有提出住宿申请的学生都能获准，大多数学校对于住宿名额实行「先到先得」的原则。因此越早申请住宿，分配到心仪的宿舍的几率就越大。
(2)宿舍分配
宿舍和室友的分配一般是通过邮件的方式告知学生。学生可以提前了解，并与未来的室友取得联系。
(3)宿舍开放时间
可以通过邮件、重要日期、orientation等方式查看。如果早于宿舍开放之前到校，那么需要提前确定临时住宿(或酒店)，直到宿舍开放日才能入住宿舍。
(4)管理人员
住宿都是由专门的宿舍管理员来管理，因此有任何宿舍方面的疑问和需求，都可以寻求舍管。
(5)特别注意
宿舍的 规章制度 绝对不要去轻易违反。如禁烟区就不能吸烟，一旦被发现，就是警告处分。
如果房间内有单独的厨房，建议不要烹饪油烟太大的菜肴，虽然有抽烟机，但是如果油烟过大，很可能引起警报器鸣响，扰乱集体秩序。
如果室友是外国人，尽量可能做到两点：
求同存异。尊重对方的习俗和观念，在认识熟悉之后，也要保持私密空间。
洁身自好。不乱吃乱用对方的物品，尤其是话不能乱说，玩笑不能乱开。

一、飞机进行时
当你还在飞机上时，一般空乘人员会发I-94出入境卡和海关申报单。 I-94出入境卡是美国移民局专用的表格，又称出入境记录卡，它包括两部分，一是入境记录，二是离境记录。如果你不了解如何填写这种表格，一定要请司乘人员帮忙，不要自己随便的填写。对于海关申报单有的在出境前填，有的在飞机上才填，这个视出境情况而异。此外，在漫长的飞行旅途中，要注意好休息，以便能在下机时保持旺盛的精力，因为下机还需要办理一些的手续，因此旺盛的精力也是避免自己犯错的好 方法 。

这四项检查可能由一名官员也可能由多名官员进行检查。当你抵达入境口岸时，请前往抵港旅客出口处，到了入境检查室，按照入境签证的不同，排队等候检查。持非移民签证者的学生应在外籍旅客入境区域的Nonresidents队伍里排队，而持移民签证或绿卡者要排在Citizens/Residents的行列。当轮到你受检时，请将护照、SEVIS I-20或DS-2019表、I-94出入境离境记录卡和海关申报单一并交给移民官进行检查。
此外，按照惯例，移民局官员会询问你一些基本的问题，比如在美的住所、访美的目的、打算在美国停留的时间以及携带多少的金额等等。 回答这些提问时，你一定要说明你是学生以及你就读的学校的名称和地址。随后移民局官员会要求你在一个扫瞄装置上留下指纹并当场拍摄一张照片，并在I-20或IAP-66及I-94上盖章，I-94卡是证明你合法入境美国的证件，必须要妥善保管。
三、入境后续事宜
等你过了外籍旅客入境区域后，你就可以到Terminal处领取你托运的行李啦，在领取行李时一定要仔细核对行李号码，切记不要拿错了。另外海关稽查人员将会审核你带入美国的物品，将检查你的行李，并核对你在飞机上填写的海关申报单。
如果你隐瞒了需要报关纳税的物品将会受到重罚。所以不要存有侥幸的心理，一定要如实的进行申报。此外如果带有任何违禁的物品，将会被当场没收。而且为了方便，入境时携带的美元不要超过一万，不然还会要求填写表格，会无形中增加自己的入境麻烦。所以只需携带少量的必需资金即可。

Due to the comprehensiveness of China’s “reform and open” policies， economics plays an increasingly important role in the development of its global position. Though more and more companies built， management of companies cannot catch up with the development of the companies. Management is a burgeoning field in China， so I hope I can acquire more modern knowledge on management in England.
The roots of my strong interest in business can be traced back to my childhood. My father was among the first of China’s new breed of modern entrepreneurs. As a young girl， it was inspirational hearing about his business ventures， and meeting the varied and interesting circle of entrepreneurs. My mother was also involved in business as an accountant， helping him with simple calculations. And so it was early in my life that I hoped I， also， would someday be able to enter the realm of business.
With the time of growing up， I preferred reading books to satisfy my curiosity. I never ceased to contemplate over the questions I encountered. Subjects on business and management became a special fascination to me and my knowledge of psychology as well as interest in this field was increasing rapidly.
As a high school student in China， I had to concentrate on the College Entrance Examination (CEE)， even so， books not related to the exams were never excluded from my life. Unfortunately when sitting in the exam in June， 2001， I was so nervous that I didn’t score well in the CEE exam. I enrolled in the department of Computer Science in Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Any attempt to persuade myself to focus on my major turned out to be a failure at the beginning of my college life. After several terms， I realized that I would never be interested in being a programmer or an engineer. At that moment， I lost my direction and objectives.
My persistence in reading saved me from the dark situation. As a matter of fact， I enjoyed reading the books included Encyclopedia American， and some books about management by Peter F.Drucker. I began to notice something interesting: Why some companies can produce more than others? Why some company can sell more than others? Why some companies can build up but others cannot when facing the same difficulties?
With the questions in my mind， I started to read many relevant books. I was lucky to read the book “Jack: Straight from the Gut”by Jack Welch， in Which John A. Byrne makes a clear illustration that the management is important for a company. When I was a junior， I ran a bookshop by myself near my school. I should manage not only the finance in the shop but also the employees in my shop even made some strategies to enlarge the business in my shop to hold on the run the shop. From this， my interpersonal skills and the capacity in business has been greatly developed， definitely I was increasingly interested in what I was doing. By December， 2003， I had finally determined to take business management as my career instead of IT. To accumulate more relevant knowledge， I strived to gain more practical work experience in some big companies.
Fortunately， as a senior， I began by conducting an internship in the Architecture Company in Zhejiang Province. Over six months， I worked as an assistant of the manager to harmonize the relationship between the different departments in this company and to draft some management system， which broadened my perspective of management conditions and business performance in different industries. The experience showed me that management is much more important than that of I thought in big companies. After graduation， I continued my work in this company. In May， 2005， the company offered me an opportunity to participate in an training program held by a famous management school. Through in-depth discussions with teachers and students in the classes， they all encouraged me to pursue my future career in management field because of my intellectual ability and the brand new ideas I mentioned.
During the short period of training， I realized that pursuing a higher degree in management is a wise choice for me now.
